Position Overview

This role involves supervising, coordinating, and actively engaging in the challenging tasks associated with the construction, repair, maintenance, and remodeling of airport facilities. The candidate will manage personnel, materials, and equipment to ensure successful completion of assigned construction projects and execute a broad range of technical duties related to the facility's infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage staff in complex construction-related activities including fabrication, welding, carpentry, installation, repair, and remodeling within airport facilities.
  • Organize and synchronize activities, personnel, materials, and equipment for project execution; liaise with airport occupants to align construction schedules; maintain clean and orderly work environments.

  • Transport materials and supplies to worksites or facility complexes as needed.

  • Serve as a security escort for vendors within the airport environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED plus thirty credit hours of vocational training in construction-related fields such as carpentry, plumbing, or welding.
  • At least four years of experience in general building or facility construction.
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or ability to obtain by hire date.
  • Obtain a City Operator's Permit within six months of employment.
  • Ability to qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card following Aviation Department and TSA policies.
  • Completion of a security background check by U.S. Customs & Border Protection if applicable.
  • Capable of physical activities including prolonged standing, walking, bending, crouching, climbing, and handling moderate to heavy lifting; able to operate motor vehicles and equipment.
