About the role
This is a permanent full-time position based in Motueka, offering 65+ hours per fortnight. Shifts can include mornings, afternoons, sleepovers, and weekends. The role also provides an opportunity to earn while learning and to gain nationally recognised qualifications.
What the role involves
As a support worker, you will help people with intellectual disabilities live well at home and participate meaningfully in their communities. The work is varied, purposeful, and gives you room to use creativity to make each day engaging and relevant to the people you support.
- Encourage independence and build everyday life skills, including using public transport, finding work, and preparing meals.
- Assist with personal routines such as showering, dressing, taking medication, and eating.
- Support people to pursue their goals, hobbies, and personal interests.
- Promote healthy habits and positive lifestyle choices.
- Help maintain strong links with whānau and the wider community.
What you will bring
The key qualities sought are a genuine interest in a career as a support worker, a positive mindset, and a willingness to learn. Full training and orientation will be provided.
- Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends and sleepovers.
- Confidence using computers and tablets as part of daily work.
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
- Physical ability to provide hands-on support when needed.
- A full New Zealand driver licence.

- Hourly pay between $24.68 and $30.13, depending on relevant qualifications, with opportunities to earn more as qualifications are completed.
