Position Overview

Are you passionate about electricity, mechanical systems, and hydraulics? Do you want to play a critical role in ensuring the reliability of wind turbines while contributing to the global shift toward renewable energy? As a Service Technician at Vestas, you will apply your expertise across electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic domains within the world's leading sustainable energy company. Vestas provides extensive technical training to develop high-level proficiency in turbine maintenance and service.

Work Environment and Locations

This role requires residing within regional areas across Australia, with locations in Western Australia (Merredin, Jurien Bay, Geraldton), South Australia (Port Augusta/Whyalla, Millicent/Mt Gambier), Victoria (Warnambool, Ballarat, Sale), New South Wales (Canberra/Goulburn, Inverell/Glen Innes), Queensland (Hughenden, Chinchilla/Dulacca, Atherton), and Tasmania (Musselroe, Granville Harbour). Note that this position is not a FIFO role.

Typical working hours are 8 hours per day, with approximately one weekend on-call duty every 3-4 weeks. Travel commitments amount to about 50 days per year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere strictly to safety and environmental protocols while meeting service objectives.
  • Perform scheduled inspections based on Vestas' standards, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic system maintenance.
  • Ensure reliable turbine operations through condition monitoring and remote control systems.
  • Manage service vehicle maintenance and warehouse inventory by ordering necessary parts and tools.
  • Assemble and service components per current guidelines, utilizing internal and external cranes when required.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulics, coupled with strong motivation to expand skills in these areas.
  • Proficiency with computers and adeptness in using various tools and monitoring systems for work documentation.
  • Effective communication abilities in English, both spoken and written.
  • Valid driver's license is mandatory.

  • Capability to climb wind turbines and undertake physically strenuous work at heights and under diverse weather conditions.
