About OceanaGold and Waihi Operation
OceanaGold Corporation is an experienced global producer of gold and copper with over 35 years in exploration, development, and mining operations. Role Overview
The position involves developing and managing detailed schedules for the Waihi North Project using Primavera P6 and MS Project software. The Senior Planner and Analyst will ensure schedule integrity, link scheduling to resourcing and cost frameworks, and support project leadership in maintaining timely delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create comprehensive project schedules aligned with project scope, timeframes, and resource needs.
- Collaborate with project managers, directors, and stakeholders to grasp objectives and limitations.
- Monitor and report on critical path changes, key milestones, and task dependencies.
- Streamline timelines and resource deployment for optimal project execution.
- Regularly update schedules with accurate progress, resource allocation, and cost updates.
- Analyze schedule variances and suggest corrective measures to meet project goals.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations capturing project status, risks, and opportunities.
- Develop policies and procedures for maximizing the efficiency of project planning tools.
- Manage broader portfolio schedules including internal resource leveling.
- Model alternative scenarios to identify best business strategies.
- Estimate costs for individual work packages using industry and company benchmarks.
- Work cross-functionally to integrate schedules with other project management systems.
- Incorporate contractors' schedules and critical dates into overall planning.
- Identify scope performance issues and communicate them to leadership.
- Provide training and mentoring on schedule management software.
- Apply quality assurance methods to maintain planning accuracy and reliability.
Qualifications and Experience
- Preferred tertiary education qualification.
- Possession of a full, current driver's license with preference for manual vehicle experience.
- 10 to 15 years of project planning experience, especially with large, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Mining industry experience is advantageous.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project software.
- Prior exposure to industrial process plants, dams, and water treatment facilities.
- Experienced in budgeting, cost reporting, and managing commitments.
Additional Information
- This is a fixed term contract for 1 year, with a possible extension of an additional year.
- Working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
