About the Role
Join Unite Students as a Safety Team Member during night hours at our Birmingham South location. This permanent, full-time position operates primarily between 10pm and 7am, covering 5 days out of 7 each week. You will be an essential presence ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of students residing in our accommodations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a welcoming and approachable first contact for students needing support or reassurance overnight.
- Proactively patrol premises to maintain safety, respond calmly to incidents such as fire alarms, noise complaints, or maintenance problems.
- Foster a respectful, empathetic, and inclusive environment for all residents while maintaining professionalism.
- Collaborate closely with both night and day teams to ensure smooth shift transitions and effective communication.
- Maintain tidy and secure communal areas to preserve a high standard of living space.
- Monitor student wellbeing, identify potential concerns, and take appropriate action to support welfare.
- Embody and promote the organization's CARE principles: Connect, Act, Respect, and Encourage.
Required Qualities and Experience
- A genuine enthusiasm for interacting with people and creating a secure, welcoming atmosphere.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond confidently to unexpected situations.
- A commitment to integrity and supporting others in a community setting.
- Experience in customer service or residential environments is advantageous but not necessary; a proactive and empathetic attitude is most valued.
