Role overview
His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service is hiring prison officers for HMP Wayland. This is a challenging, people-focused role where you help keep the public safe while supporting individuals in custody to make positive changes in their lives.
The job is varied and fast-moving, with no two days the same. As you build experience, you may also have opportunities to progress and develop within the prison service.

What the job involves
In this role, you may take on a range of duties during the day. At different times you could be acting as a calm presence, a supportive guide, or an educator depending on what the situation requires.
You will work directly with prisoners in a secure environment, contributing to public protection and helping create a constructive atmosphere inside the prison.
Working pattern
The role requires shift work, including weekends.

You will receive structured training, along with opportunities to progress and develop your career. There may also be options to specialise in different areas over time.
Pay and benefits
The salary for this position is £33,746 to £38,003.
