Role overview
This is a prison officer position at HMP Highpoint within His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS). The role is described as fast-moving, varied, and rewarding, with the chance to make a real difference to public safety and to the lives of people in custody.
The salary range for this role is £35,746 to £40,003.
What the job involves
Prison officers are responsible for protecting the public while helping offenders move in a more positive direction. Day to day, the work can change quickly, and no two situations are likely to be the same. As experience builds, there are opportunities to progress and develop in different directions.
In this role, you may take on a mix of responsibilities across the course of a single day, including acting as a peacekeeper, counsellor, or teacher depending on the needs of the prison environment.

Working pattern
This job requires flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends.
