Role Overview
The HR Service Specialist supports employees and HR teams by handling first-line questions and requests related to human resources policies, programs, and processes. This is a contract role based in Baltimore, Maryland, with a remote offsite work model and a 40-hour workweek.
The compensation for this position is $31.90.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the first contact for associate questions about HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Support internal teams each day so employee requests are addressed accurately, promptly, and confidentially.
- Oversee the intake of employee inquiries and help drive them to resolution in a timely manner.
- Keep HR systems up to date and complete required documents, including severance and telework paperwork.
- Refresh and maintain HR support materials used by HR, Shared Services, and employees so the content remains accurate and useful.
- Collect feedback to spot chances for improving HR processes and communicate those insights to the HR Shared Services team.
- Develop and maintain a strong working understanding of company policies and standard practices.
- Coordinate with HR functional teams to ensure processes are clearly understood and properly followed.
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in customer service, HR onboarding, or in an HR technician, analyst, or generalist role.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong customer service orientation with clear and effective communication skills.
- Familiarity with several HR areas, such as compensation, benefits, employee relations, immigration, performance management, and employment law.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.
- Must have access to personal equipment and be able to perform the job remotely.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred.
