About the Role
We are seeking a Game Developer proficient in Java and libGDX to join our remote team on a contract basis. This role involves creating simple 2D games that contribute to training advanced AI systems, impacting how models learn and interact. Prior experience in AI is not required; your expertise in game development is the key focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and refine 2D game components using Java and the libGDX framework.
- Work in tandem with AI professionals to design interactive game elements and gather valuable training datasets.
- Develop core game functionalities such as sprite handling, game loops, and user input processing.
- Identify and fix bugs to ensure games run efficiently and reliably.
- Engage in code reviews and help enhance development standards internally.
- Maintain clear technical documentation detailing game development procedures for effective team communication.
- Provide ongoing progress reports and actively seek feedback within the team.
Required Qualifications
- Familiarity with Java programming and object-oriented design concepts.
- Experience using libGDX through academic projects, personal experimentation, or prototypes.
- Understanding of essential game development principles including loops, sprite management, and input systems.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in writing clear technical documents.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a remote team.
- Passion for creating games or interactive applications demonstrated by personal initiative.
- Willingness to undergo an AI-related interview during the hiring process.
Preferred Skills
- Having a portfolio showcasing small games or demos (GitHub repositories or playable versions are a plus).
- Knowledge of vector math, collision detection, or introductory 2D physics.
- Experience with Git for source control and teamwork.
