Position Overview
This role is offered through a partner company seeking a Fraud Agent I based in the United States. The position centers on supporting essential fraud prevention activities by identifying, evaluating, and responding to suspicious financial transactions. It plays a pivotal role in safeguarding customers, mitigating risk, and ensuring secure financial interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine fraud alerts from monitoring systems to detect suspicious activities and decide on necessary follow-up actions.
- Manage and document fraud investigations thoroughly, ensuring all cases and decisions are recorded accurately.
- Assess high-risk transactions, including mobile and ATM deposits, for potential fraud signs.
- Perform account reviews and early warning analyses to uncover unusual or potentially fraudulent behaviors.
- Delegate cases for further inquiry when necessary and escalate critical or complex issues to supervisory staff.
- Communicate with customers via phone to confirm transactions, collect pertinent information, clarify concerns, and aid fraud resolution.
- Deliver professional and empathetic support to customers affected by suspected fraud.
- Implement preventative security controls such as account holds and access restrictions following established procedures.
- Educate customers on fraud prevention measures and available security resources.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments, including banking operations, customer service, card services, and online banking, to resolve issues effectively.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, company policies, and industry standards.
- Complete necessary documentation, reporting, and training while fostering a cooperative team atmosphere.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- At least 2 years of experience in banking, financial services, fraud investigation, dispute resolution, risk management, or customer support.
- Preferred experience includes fraud operations, account servicing, dispute handling, or contact center environments.
- Strong analytical and investigative capabilities to recognize fraud patterns and risk factors.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when handling alerts and documenting cases.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills to evaluate risk and respond swiftly in urgent situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience managing sensitive customer interactions.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining service quality and efficiency.
- Proficiency with fraud detection tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and industry standards including Regulation E, NACHA, Regulation CC, card network rules, BSA/AML/OFAC, UCC, and elder financial abuse protections.
- Familiarity with fraud monitoring technologies and banking systems is advantageous.
- Must pass required background and credit screenings.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
