About VABS Ltd and the Role
VABS Ltd is the leading specialist in industrial vacuum and low-pressure systems in New Zealand, partnering with top manufacturers in sectors like dairy, food processing, pharmaceuticals, packaging, wastewater, aerospace, and heavy industry. We're seeking a skilled Field Service and Technical Sales Engineer to join our team and support the growth of our South Island operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing of industrial vacuum pumps, blowers, and rotating equipment.
- Diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns efficiently.
- Conduct equipment overhauls and rebuilds as needed.
- Handle installation and commissioning of machinery on customer sites.
- Provide expert technical troubleshooting and fault finding.
- Offer practical engineering guidance and recommendations to clients.
- Carry out equipment audits and promote reliability enhancements.
- Prepare technical quotations and recommend solutions tailored to customer needs.
- Identify and suggest opportunities for equipment upgrades, replacements, and optimization.
- Manage your own customer portfolio while collaborating closely with the South Island Regional Manager to cultivate business growth.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a minimum Level 4 New Zealand Recognised Engineering Qualification.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities.
- Enjoy interacting directly with customers and have the confidence to discuss technical solutions with engineers, maintenance teams, and plant managers.
- Approach problem-solving with practical, solution-oriented methods.
- Take responsibility for your workload and work independently.
- Build long-lasting customer relationships through professionalism and trustworthiness.
- Proactively identify chances to enhance operations and equipment reliability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Hold a valid New Zealand driver's license.
- Experience with vacuum pumps is preferred but not mandatory; training is offered for those with industrial rotating equipment expertise and a willingness to learn.
