Job description
Position Overview
Participate in delivering one of the world's largest international sporting events by managing catering operations at a specific venue during a major international football tournament. This full-time, fixed-term contract spans from September 1, 2026, through February or March 2027. Candidates must be available for the entire duration and committed to a full-time role.
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day catering activities across kitchens, storage, dining areas, hospitality lounges, and service points.
- Assist in setting up, operating, and dismantling catering services before, during, and after event periods.
- Perform routine checks to ensure operational readiness, cleanliness, functionality of equipment, and adherence to operational standards.
- Continuously monitor catering operations during service and promptly communicate any service disruptions or operational challenges.
- Supervise contractor personnel within assigned areas, ensuring proper attendance, accreditation, uniforms, and correct deployment as per operational plans.
- Confirm that setups, equipment, furniture, signage, and service zones meet approved layouts and contractual obligations.
- Provide day-to-day operational guidance to contractor supervisors and report issues requiring managerial attention.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and health and safety regulations throughout catering operations.
- Immediately report any food safety concerns, quality issues, equipment malfunctions, or service shortcomings to management.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractor representatives to guarantee timely delivery of food, beverages, equipment, and operational supplies.
- Prepare and submit accurate daily operational reports covering meal counts, staff attendance, observations, incidents, equipment problems, and remedial actions within set deadlines.
- Report contractor non-compliance, operational risks, customer feedback, and venue concerns following established procedures.
- Conduct all catering activities in line with event procedures, operational guidelines, contracts, and safety regulations.
- Assist the Venue Catering Manager and the wider catering team with additional operational tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- A diploma or equivalent credential in Hospitality, Catering, Culinary Science, Event Management, or a related field, or comparable operational experience.
- At least two years’ experience supervising catering, hospitality, or food service operations, ideally within large-scale events.
- Practical knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams, with the ability to generate accurate daily reports, maintain digital records, and utilize event management/reporting systems.
- Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure, fast-moving event environment.
