Overview

The Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for setting up, dismantling, and operating all Barnes Museum audio-visual equipment including audio, video, lighting, and staging systems. This role supports a variety of events such as live and virtual art lectures, musical performances, adult and K-12 virtual classes, as well as client occasions like corporate retreats and weddings. The technician ensures equipment is used safely and efficiently, upholds complete customer satisfaction, and manages all inventory before, during, and after events.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer-oriented service with professionalism and technical expertise.
  • Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for equipment and software malfunctions.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to equipment challenges or changes.
  • Utilize training in Barnes EMS (Event Management System) service orders to interpret equipment lists and event schedules.
  • Adhere to Barnes' workplace culture, safety protocols, and security procedures in collaboration with departments such as Events, Facilities, Conservation, and Guest Protection Services.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum educational requirement: High School Diploma; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • At least one year of experience working as an A/V Technician.
  • Proficiency in computer troubleshooting, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, and OBS software.
  • Excellent customer service aptitude with clear, patient communication to assist users both in-person and remotely.
  • Strong reliability and integrity.
  • Must pass a national criminal background check.
