Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Switch Operator (Weichenwärter:in) at the Seevetal location within the Hamburg network, particularly focused on operations at the Seevetal freight yard. This role offers a positive culture, supportive leadership, and involvement in vital rail logistics and safety processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective operational execution within your area of responsibility.
  • Oversee and execute safe shunting (yard switching) maneuvers.
  • Promptly identify and report hazards, disruptions, and irregularities.
  • Communicate shunting orders and actively participate in train movements.
  • Maintain operational documentation and collaborate with fellow switch operators, yardmasters, locomotive drivers, and other team members.
  • Coordinate merging and separating of cargo flows in a dynamic work environment.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified switch operator with practical experience preferred.
  • Alternatively, willingness to obtain certification as switch operator under guideline Ril 046.2505.
  • Unrestricted fitness for operational and shift duties as specified by manual 107.
  • Knowledge of railway infrastructure and operational interrelations is advantageous.
  • Strong cooperation and teamwork skills.
  • Physical resilience, including the ability to perform well under stress.
  • Flexibility, mobility, and strong assertiveness.
