Role Summary

The role of Security Expeditor is integral in guaranteeing the secure transportation of valuable goods. It involves overseeing truck breakdown incidents involving high-value cargo, facilitating escalation procedures, and ensuring timely communication and resolution between internal teams and clients while maintaining accountability with transports.

Core Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor breakdown incidents on a daily basis.
  • Implement escalation procedures following established SOP timelines (from Day 0 through Day 10+), ensuring prompt actions.
  • Gather and validate GPS data, photographic evidence, and incident specifics to support internal and client reporting.
  • Compose and dispatch structured communications to clients at designated escalation milestones (Days 4, 6, 8, and beyond Day 10).
  • Collaborate with expeditors, transporters, and warehouse personnel to expedite issue resolution.
  • Manage the coordination of transshipments, ensure accurate documentation, and notify clients accordingly.
  • Maintain transporters' performance logs and advocate for blacklisting repeat offenders when necessary.
  • Coordinate with finance to control payment releases or withholdings based on escalation outcomes.
  • Perform root cause analyses on frequent breakdowns and present results to management.
  • Log, review, and incorporate preventive measures for all incidents.
  • Confirm the accuracy of security charge entries in systems and verify charges with security service providers.
  • Reconcile invoices from security suppliers and assist finance teams with billing and documentation.
  • Produce and distribute transporter performance reports weekly and monthly to management, highlighting improvement opportunities.
  • Respond to inquiries from transporters and escort companies regarding security issues.

Skills and Competencies

  • Effective problem-solving and making sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills suitable for both clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze GPS data and transporter performance metrics.
  • Capacity to detect trends, patterns, and identify performance gaps.
  • Skilled in negotiation and conflict resolution when managing underperforming transporters.
  • Ability to enforce accountability while preserving professional relationships.
  • Highly organized with the capability to manage several escalations at once.

Performance Metrics

  • Percentage of escalations resolved within established SOP timeframes.
  • Timely and accurate communication of incidents.
  • Reduction of recurring transporter breakdown truck incidents.
  • Compliance with finance-related payment adjustments, including payment holds and recoveries.
  • Verification and reconciliation of escort invoices within two working days to facilitate prompt payment processing.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in transportation or logistics coordination roles.
  • Previous experience in escalation management or client-facing operational roles is advantageous.
