About the Role
We are looking for an eager and motivated Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Graduate to join our team within a prominent dairy cooperative in Tipperary Town. This role offers a prime opportunity to launch a professional career focused on ensuring a safe, healthy, and ecologically responsible workplace across multiple manufacturing and operational facilities.
Collaborating closely with the EHS team, you will obtain practical knowledge in health and safety oversight, environmental adherence, sustainability efforts, risk evaluations, and ongoing enhancement projects, while gaining insight into dairy processing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in applying and improving the cooperative's Environmental, Health & Safety Management System.
- Support workplace inspections, safety audits, and environmental monitoring tasks.
- Engage in risk evaluation, hazard recognition, and devising control strategies.
- Contribute to investigations of incidents, near misses, and environmental occurrences by identifying root causes and aiding corrective steps.
- Help maintain EHS-related documentation, policies, and compliance records.
- Assist in delivering training and awareness sessions on health, safety, and environmental subjects.
- Track key performance indicators for EHS and prepare management reports.
- Support initiatives in waste management, energy saving, water conservation, and environmental sustainability.
- Assist adherence to environmental licenses, permits, and applicable legal requirements.
- Participate in emergency preparedness plans, drills, and business continuity activities.
- Collaborate with various departments like production, engineering, quality, and maintenance to foster a safety-focused culture.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects aimed at minimizing risks, enhancing environmental outcomes, and boosting operational efficiency.
- Keep updated on changes in health, safety, environmental laws, and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in fields such as Environmental Science, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, or Sustainability.
- Keen interest in advancing a career in EHS, particularly within the food or dairy sectors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Effective organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Holds a full driving license for potential site travel.
Additional Desirable Attributes
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management standards.
- Understanding of food manufacturing or dairy processing environments.
- Knowledge of Irish environmental and health & safety legislation.
- Relevant internships, work placements, or academic projects in EHS.
