Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and organized Dental Assistant to play a key role within a specialized primary healthcare environment. This position involves assisting dental clinicians and providing exceptional care to Defence personnel.

About the Location

Position is located at Williamtown Health Centre, situated 30 km north of Newcastle on RAAF Base Williamtown, known as Australia’s prime fighter pilot training hub. This busy base employs over 4500 personnel. The Health Centre offers a range of services including primary and aviation medical care, outpatient treatment, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmacy services. Typical hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, subject to role specifics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during procedures, providing chair-side support.
  • Prepare and maintain clinical equipment along with treatment spaces.
  • Promote oral health education and assist in patient care delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control and hygiene protocols.
  • Manage patient records and contribute to administrative functions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate III in Dental Assisting or a comparable qualification.
  • Minimum of two years of chair-side assisting experience in a dental clinical setting.
  • Valid First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certifications.
  • Solid knowledge of infection prevention and clinical operational standards.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with a caring, team-oriented mindset.
