Role Summary
The Laboratory Specialist – Cementing will oversee chemical laboratory activities supporting operational service delivery. This includes performing laboratory tests on products, samples, and systems; collecting, submitting, and interpreting test results; maintaining equipment and work areas; supporting incident investigations; and mentoring less experienced colleagues. This role fosters collaboration with internal customers and project teams, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards as well as safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and understand laboratory testing protocols applicable to research and technical support functions.
- Manage projects within the laboratory setting to ensure efficient completion and quality outcomes.
- Generate, collect, organize, and meticulously report laboratory data for field support and research initiatives, collaborating with headquarters project teams.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of laboratory and associated equipment.
- Stay updated on health, safety, environment (HSE) requirements and proper waste disposal procedures.
- Assist in project planning and review phases; may participate in direct customer interactions.
- Plan procurement of new laboratory equipment as needed.
- Evaluate test results for validity, compliance with specifications, and applicability, providing guidance to all laboratory personnel.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics discipline.
- Proven leadership capabilities combined with strong interpersonal, influencing, and organizational skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of laboratory testing methods, analytical characterization, and measurement techniques.
- Knowledge of fluid materials used within the oil and gas sector.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated project management abilities.
- Capable of working autonomously and collaboratively within cross-functional teams, including delivering project presentations.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 2-4 weeks annually for training or product support.
- Sound working knowledge of all laboratory functions.
- Strong ability to build peer relationships while performing independently.
- Action-oriented, ethical with a strong customer-centric mindset.
- Professional interaction skills applicable to both customers and colleagues, including technical report writing expertise.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills addressing complex, multidimensional challenges.
