About the Role
This senior leadership position is with a partner company operating a global, fully remote financial services organization based in Canada. The Head of Operations will be instrumental in architecting and scaling the operational infrastructure essential for sustainable growth, overseeing critical functions to ensure seamless efficiency, resilience, compliance, and superior service delivery.
You will lead diverse teams responsible for payments, reconciliations, business operations, and digital asset settlements, combining strategic insight with operational excellence, automation, risk management, and leadership to build scalable processes and enhance performance in a technology-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement an all-encompassing operations strategy aligned with organizational goals, emphasizing scalability, efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage and direct core operational divisions including payments, treasury, reconciliations, card management, back-office functions, and business operations.
- Take ownership of operational metrics, controls, and continuous improvement efforts to uphold exceptional service standards.
- Lead process enhancements, leveraging automation, technology, data, and AI-driven solutions for operational transformation.
- Develop and enforce standardized procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency, and visibility in operations.
- Recruit, mentor, and build a high-performing operations team fostering responsibility, teamwork, and ongoing refinement.
- Collaborate closely with compliance, risk, and financial crime teams to meet regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Establish frameworks for managing operational risk, including monitoring, reporting, controls, and preparing for audits.
- Coordinate with cross-functional leaders in technology, data, human resources, and client-facing teams for integrated business operations.
- Supervise end-to-end digital asset settlement processes such as reconciliation, wallet management, custody controls, and crypto-fiat operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Over 10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations within banking, fintech, financial services, or wealth management sectors.
- Proven track record in managing and scaling multiple operational areas including payments, treasury, settlements, and general business operations.
- Strong background in process improvement, operational transformation, automation, and the design of scalable workflows.
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, compliance frameworks, AML, and financial crime mitigation practices.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and nurturing high-performing operational units.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strategically minded with the aptitude to convert business strategies into actionable operational plans.
- Experience with digital assets, blockchain technology, or cryptocurrency operations is highly advantageous.
- Aptitude for working independently and collaboratively within a fully remote, global environment.
