General Operative / Handyperson

About the Role

We are offering a rewarding opportunity for an on-site General Operative / Handyperson at HMYOI Drake Hall, a women's prison and young offender institution known for its supportive atmosphere and dedication to rehabilitation. This role is integral in maintaining safe, high-quality conditions across the site.

Working Hours and Compensation

The standard workweek totals 39 hours, from 8am to 5pm, across a 7-day schedule that includes weekend shifts. Participation in a one-in-three weekend rota is optional and offers an additional 15% allowance on top of the base salary.

The annual salary for this position is A327,426.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with a motivated team to perform a variety of general maintenance and assist qualified tradespeople.
• Undertake facilities management tasks assigned by the team manager.
• Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations throughout the contract.
• Support sustainability by contributing to local and organizational zero carbon initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience in general maintenance and DIY tasks related to building structures.
• Possession of CITB certification or an equivalent qualification.
• Motivation to acquire new skills and knowledge.
• Effective team player with good interpersonal skills.
• Holding a valid UK driving licence with access to a personal vehicle is essential due to limited availability of public transport to the site.
