About the Role
We are offering a rewarding opportunity for an on-site General Operative / Handyperson at HMYOI Drake Hall, a women's prison and young offender institution known for its supportive atmosphere and dedication to rehabilitation. This role is integral in maintaining safe, high-quality conditions across the site.
Working Hours and Compensation
The standard workweek totals 39 hours, from 8am to 5pm, across a 7-day schedule that includes weekend shifts. Participation in a one-in-three weekend rota is optional and offers an additional 15% allowance on top of the base salary.
The annual salary for this position is A327,426.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with a motivated team to perform a variety of general maintenance and assist qualified tradespeople.
- Undertake facilities management tasks assigned by the team manager.
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations throughout the contract.
- Support sustainability by contributing to local and organizational zero carbon initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in general maintenance and DIY tasks related to building structures.
- Possession of CITB certification or an equivalent qualification.
- Motivation to acquire new skills and knowledge.
- Effective team player with good interpersonal skills.
- Holding a valid UK driving licence with access to a personal vehicle is essential due to limited availability of public transport to the site.
Additional Information
Applicants will be subject to Prison Security Clearance, with full support provided throughout the process.
