Job Overview
This role involves delivering immediate close protection to key individuals including family members and VIPs. Protection duties encompass safeguarding during foot movements, travel by road, rail, air, watercraft, and at various venues such as functions, residences, and offices. The protection team includes roles such as ring-round teams, isolation cordons, sterile zone enforcement, surveillance, and access control for VIPs and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure effective implementation of security management systems tailored to protect designated subjects.
- Provide comprehensive bodyguard coverage during transit and outside residences or workplaces.
- Maintain continuous security presence via trained personnel, orchestrating thorough security plans for assigned individuals.
- Perform anti-sabotage checks on vehicles prior to movements or visits.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments of areas; collaborate for intelligence gathering and analyze potential threats stemming from law enforcement inputs, competitor actions, political influences, and national security considerations.
- Develop and apply contingency and crisis response procedures ensuring robust protection operations.
- Implement scientific and executive advance escort measures including advanced counteractions, coordinated team tactics, vehicle maneuvers, site surveys, route reconnaissance, and facilitate safe evacuations.
- Carry out site surveys and analyze risk to provide clear situational awareness for locations and travel destinations.
- Ensure adherence to security guidelines, maintain security systems, and organize team formations, drills, and communication practices for both routine and emergency scenarios.
- Manage team rotations, deployment, training, and performance assessments for team members.
- Enhance internal security processes by integrating modern technology and security equipment such as vehicle tracking systems.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Minimum requirement: Graduate degree in any discipline.
- Mandatory professional certifications: VIP Protection courses from RGSS, SPG, NSG, or Defence Services.
- Preferred additional qualifications: Commando course, Postgraduate degree in any discipline, LLB or LLM degree or substantial knowledge of criminal law, industrial relations, and labor law.
- Experience: At least 5 years service in RGSS with a minimum of 2 years in Executive Protection Group (EPG) or A1 Special Group personal protection roles.
- Desirable experience: 5 to 10 years in SPG, NSG, Armed Forces, or Paramilitary Special Group services.
Skills and Competencies
- Highly perceptive regarding potential threats to protectees.
- Maintains alert and focused mindset anticipating threats during VIP visits and personal protection scenarios.
- Experienced in conducting site surveys, security advances, and route reconnaissance along with team leadership.
- Proficient in close protection of subjects while on foot across different event locations.
- Skilled in crowd management and protection in public events and gatherings.
- Ability to integrate seamlessly into protective groups and gain acceptability among subjects.
- Complies fully with applicable laws and regulations, including proficient weapon handling.
- Demonstrates excellent marksmanship and physical fitness.
- Capable of taking proactive, preventive actions to neutralize threats based on intelligence.
- Possesses a strong commitment to the duties and responsibilities inherent in protection roles.
