Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead and supervise the entire lifecycle of product development initiatives at our engineering R&D department, based in Shannon, Co. Clare, Ireland. This full-time position is structured as a 6-24 month contract with a hybrid working model permitting remote work from Shannon, the UK, or other locations. The successful candidate will manage schedules, risks, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and on-budget delivery while adhering to an established project management framework and gate review process.
Key Responsibilities
- Head diverse project teams encompassing engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing, and supply chain sectors.
- Implement structured project management practices including detailed planning, scheduling, risk and issue management, resource allocation, and budget oversight.
- Enforce the organization’s product development procedures to maintain project direction and ensure compliance with change control protocols.
- Track project progress and regularly communicate updates to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate interactions between engineering teams and both internal and external collaborators, including product design and new product introduction divisions.
- Manage adjustments to scope, scheduling, and costs through appropriate change management processes.
- Ensure all electrical devices with embedded RF connectivity meet required regulatory and safety standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- At least 10 years in project management roles, with a focus on electronic product development preferred.
- Third-level qualification such as a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Science, or Technology fields.
- Certified in project management methodologies (PMP preferred, Prince2 or equivalent accepted), and familiarity with Agile/Scrum frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional projects via structured methods.
- Over 2 years of managing original equipment manufacturer (OEM) collaborations or external research partnerships.
- Technical knowledge across electronic hardware design, embedded firmware/software, mechanical product design, and cloud communication protocols relevant to IoT data platforms.
Desirable Skills and Attributes
- Strong leadership capabilities along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to juggle multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in regulated sectors such as life safety, medical devices, or industrial control systems.
- Proficiency in project management software including MS Project, Monday.com, Teamwork.com, Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions.
