Overview
LightFeather is seeking a dedicated Scrum Master to provide agile leadership for a federal agency's cloud modernization initiative. This role serves as the core facilitator of Scrum processes within a Google Cloud Platform-focused engineering team, ensuring smooth and efficient sprint cycles in a fast-paced technical environment.
Work Location and Hours
The position requires onsite presence in Washington, D.C. (zip code 20006) four days per week, with one day allowed for telework.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, reviews, and retrospectives to keep the team aligned and productive.
- Lead sprint demonstrations at the end of each sprint, maintaining regular cadence and engagement.
- Collaborate closely with the Product Owner to refine and prioritize the backlog, write and dissect user stories and subtasks, and uphold Jira sprint board accuracy.
- Act as the primary source for sprint progress, generating reports, monitoring task completion, and providing status updates to team members and leadership.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation using SharePoint and coordinate related deliverables with Business Analysts.
- Monitor ServiceNow tickets integrated into Jira workflows, updating stakeholders on ticket progression promptly.
- Support high-level change management efforts, working with technical team members on pipeline and security-related user stories.
- Champion an agile culture within the team, setting standards for task tracking, communication, and completion.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen with an active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
- Between 5 to 8 years of Scrum Master experience in IT or software delivery environments.
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent agile certification.
- Proficient in facilitating all Scrum ceremonies and managing comprehensive sprint deliveries.
- Experience with Jira for backlog management, story development, sprint tracking, and task ownership.
- Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Basic understanding of DevSecOps principles and delivery pipelines to appropriately facilitate team discussions.
- Conceptual knowledge of federal IT security frameworks and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes like NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills comfortable engaging with engineers, product managers, and federal stakeholders.
- Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC, five days a week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal IT or government cloud modernization projects.
- Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with SharePoint for documentation and knowledge management.
- Experience using ServiceNow alongside Jira in ticketing and work intake workflows.
- Additional certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe, or cloud provider certifications (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Background in facilitating change management within agile environments.
