Role Overview

Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service at HMP Bullingdon as an Operational Support Grade (OSG), a vital role in assisting the daily operations of a busy correctional facility. This position involves a mix of duties such as security checks, supervising visitors, managing deliveries, and monitoring communication systems like CCTV and phone calls. The role combines desk-based tasks with physically active responsibilities including lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles within prison grounds.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security and searches at the prison entry points.
• Manage incoming deliveries efficiently and securely.
• Supervise visitors ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Monitor phone calls and CCTV footage to maintain security.
• Escort vehicles safely throughout the prison precincts.

Candidate Requirements

• Must hold a full and valid UK driving licence including the D1 category, enabling the driving of vehicles with up to 16 passenger seats, 8 meters in length, and trailers up to 750kg.
• Good communication skills and the ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations.
• Strong judgment and common sense with a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
• Physically capable of performing tasks that involve lifting, carrying, and walking extensively.

Additional Information

The role requires flexibility to work varied shifts including nights and weekends. While direct interaction with prisoners is limited, occasional contact may occur depending on the establishment. Candidates should consider transportation options carefully as prison locations may have limited public transit, and punctuality for fixed shift times is mandatory.
