Role Summary

The MES Production Process Specialist will oversee the technical management, configuration, and support of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) within sterile injectable manufacturing and packaging operations in a GMP-controlled environment. This position sustains the phased MES rollout, with the first phase focused on Weigh & Dispense already operational and the second phase aimed at enhancing MES capabilities to incorporate electronic logbooks, manufacturing, and packaging execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure dependable operation of live Weigh & Dispense functions with thorough material traceability.
  • Deliver tier 1 and 2 technical support for MES applications in sterile manufacturing, including execution of Electronic Batch Records (EBR) and shop floor processes.
  • Identify and resolve MES issues related to configuration, system efficiency, interfaces, and data errors to reduce production interruptions.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for repeated MES problems and implement corrective and preventative strategies.
  • Manage MES environments (production, test, validation), encompassing user roles, access control, and security settings.
  • Implement configuration updates, master data modifications, and recipe/workflow changes adhering to change control protocols.
  • Configure and maintain MES execution across multiple operations including compounding, aseptic filling, cleaning, depyrogenation, glove integrity testing, and packaging activities such as line clearance, material, and label verifications.
  • Support backup procedures, recovery testing, and disaster recovery preparedness.
  • Participate in validation activities such as Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, Performance Qualification, regression tests, and periodic system reviews.
  • Lead MES patch, upgrade, and hotfix deployments, ensuring controlled testing and release procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between manufacturing, automation, IT infrastructure, quality teams, and external suppliers.

Desired Skills & Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Proven experience supporting MES systems within GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
  • Practical experience providing technical MES support for sterile or aseptic production operations.
  • Competence with MES platforms like Werum PAS-X, Siemens Opcenter, Emerson Syncade, or Rockwell FactoryTalk.
  • Experience managing validated (GxP) production systems with stringent uptime requirements.
  • Skilled in MES system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership to maintain system stability.
