Role overview
A mission-focused nonprofit partner is hiring a temporary HR Communications Specialist in Washington, D.C., with a strong possibility that the assignment could become permanent. This role centers on shaping clear, consistent, and engaging communications for HR programs and broader organizational priorities.
What you'll do
- Plan and deliver internal communication approaches, messages, and timelines for HR initiatives and key organizational goals.
- Write and coordinate a range of internal materials, including emails, SharePoint updates, newsletters, toolkits, and leadership communications.
- Work closely with HR, Communications, and other teams to align messaging, secure approvals, and manage delivery schedules.
- Assist with change management and employee engagement efforts through thoughtful communication planning.
- Monitor communication efforts and results to support consistency and ongoing improvement.
- Develop employee-centered content that strengthens the overall employee experience.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate brings a bachelor’s degree, at least 5 years of related experience, and strong hands-on exposure to communication strategy, project coordination, and stakeholder management. Familiarity with HR concepts and experience communicating organizational change are important, along with a collaborative approach to cross-functional work.
Schedule and compensation
This position starts as soon as possible and offers pay of $37 to $43 per hour. It is a 6-month contract with a strong chance of conversion to a permanent role. If converted, the expected salary range is $80,000 to $100,000 annually. The schedule is hybrid, with 3 days onsite, and the office is metro accessible.
