Position Overview

We’re seeking a capable and caring Dietary Director to lead our Dietary Services Department. This key leadership position ensures the safe preparation and delivery of nutritious, appetizing meals tailored to individual resident needs while adhering to all regulatory standards at federal, state, and local levels.

Core Responsibilities

Oversee safe and nutritious meal planning and service, ensuring meals align with physician orders and approved menus.
Ensure high food quality with appropriate portion control and compliance with dietary regulations.
Manage dietary department budgeting, food inventory, procurement, and cost management.
Coordinate special meals for holidays, celebrations, and facility events.
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, mentor, and assess dietary staff performance.
Create staff schedules to guarantee full departmental coverage.
Maintain strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, infection control, and applicable regulations.
Oversee proper food storage, handling, labeling, and consistent temperature monitoring.
Process and update resident diet orders and maintain accurate dietary records.
Evaluate resident food preferences, allergies, nutritional needs and keep requisite documentation.
Conduct routine kitchen and storage area inspections to uphold cleanliness and safety.
Collaborate with Nursing, Activities, and other teams for holistic resident care.
Engage in Quality Assurance and Interdisciplinary Team meetings.
Deliver continuous education and in-service training for dietary personnel.
Investigate workplace incidents and implement corrective strategies as needed.
Uphold confidentiality of all resident information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
Communicate menu revisions and nutritional concerns with consulting Registered Dietitian.

Candidate Requirements

Mandatory qualifications:

Completion of an approved Dietary Manager program compliant with state and federal standards.
Capability to maintain all necessary certifications, licenses, and ongoing education requirements.
Good standing with the Department of Public Health License and Certification Division.
Strong leadership abilities paired with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred experience and skills:

At least 12 months of experience working in dietary departments within long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation settings.
Familiarity with PointClickCare (PCC) electronic health records system.
Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing long-term care dietary services.

Physical and Work Environment

Regularly standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and pulling; occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Effective verbal and auditory communication skills.
Visual capabilities such as close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
The role is set mainly within a commercial kitchen and healthcare setting with moderate noise.
