About the Role

Eco-Business is seeking a skilled journalist to strengthen its editorial team located in Singapore. The position involves creating daily content on sustainable development trends and news across the Asia Pacific region. This role demands a strong background in newsroom experience along with excellent command of English in both writing and speaking. Priority will be given to candidates with technical knowledge of energy and finance issues in the region and editorial project management capabilities. Experience in business and policy news coverage is also valued. The successful candidate will engage with public, private, and multilateral organizations globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather news stories, conduct interviews, and contribute to editorial planning by pitching and developing timely news and feature pieces.
• Produce and submit articles across various formats, utilizing AI-supported content tools in accordance with editorial standards.
• Create content on sustainable development topics relevant to the Asia Pacific region for multiple platforms.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to develop content for thought leadership projects.
• Develop comprehensive investigative reports with significant impact.
• Establish and maintain a robust network of industry contacts.
• Manage social media activities including publication and community engagement for your stories.
• Source and republish opinion articles, manage partnerships, and vet incoming pitches for the Opinions section, including editing.
• Provide editorial assistance for regional projects and events, encompassing press releases, marketing text, event summaries, newsletters, and proofreading.
• Occasional travel as required.

Candidate Requirements

• A strong passion for sustainable development subjects.
• University degree in Journalism, Communications, Environmental Studies, or related disciplines.
• At least two years of journalism work in established media or a strong freelance portfolio with reputable outlets, especially covering business and sustainable development topics.
• Proven ability to craft original, high-quality stories and effectively promote content on digital channels.
• Skill in breaking down complex subjects into clear, accessible narratives.
• Capacity to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Firm understanding of journalism ethics and editorial principles.
• Proactive self-starter able to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Collaborative mindset open to continuous learning and growth.
• Proficiency in an additional Asian language is advantageous.
• Familiarity with multimedia production tools such as photography, video, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML/CSS, and social media or project management platforms is a plus.
• Good knowledge of Eco-Business' brand and editorial standards.
