Communication Technician - Railway Communication Systems

Role Overview

The Communication Technician will be responsible for executing both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on railway communication infrastructures to guarantee the safety and efficiency of railway operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine preventive and reactive maintenance on railway communication systems.
• Identify and resolve faults in communication equipment related to railways.
• Oversee maintenance and troubleshooting of GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communications – Railway) systems.
• Assist in maintenance tasks for DSM (Digital Switching Module) and DSR (Digital Signal Relay) signaling systems.
• Perform inspections and tests to verify the dependability of systems.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and maintenance standards during all activities.
• Document maintenance operations and prepare detailed reports.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of a technical diploma or an equivalent qualification in Telecommunications, Electronics, or related disciplines.
• At least four years of practical experience in relevant roles.
• Prior experience working in railway maintenance environments.
• Familiarity with GSM-R communication systems.
• Knowledge or experience dealing with DSM/DSR signaling technology.
• Proficiency in English language skills.
