Role overview
Aux Partners is hiring a Chief Technology Officer to lead the organization’s entire technology function. This is a newly created senior leadership position for a growing, multi-site, fourth-generation family-owned construction business. The role is designed to turn technology into a strategic advantage by bringing structure, modern infrastructure, and forward-looking systems to the way the company operates.
The CTO will combine strategic planning with hands-on delivery. The person in this role will shape technology direction, oversee vendors and managed service providers, modernize core systems, and introduce practical AI use cases across the business. There is also a clear opportunity for this role to expand into broader executive leadership over time.
Compensation and travel
The salary range is $200,000 to $235,000, plus bonuses. The position includes weekly or daily travel to Topeka.
Key responsibilities
- Create and maintain a multi-year technology roadmap that supports business objectives.
- Set up governance, standards, policies, and performance metrics for an organization of more than 250 employees.
- Convert business priorities into technology investments and implementation decisions.
- Lead the internal IT team and start by managing an on-site support specialist.
- Define team structure, recruit talent, and build a service-focused support culture.
- Act as the main owner for all technology vendors and the managed service provider.
- Oversee contracts, service quality, performance expectations, and cost control.
- Administer and govern Microsoft 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, and iOS devices.
- Improve adoption, security, identity management, and information organization across the environment.
- Design and maintain a SharePoint-based intranet for communication and document control.
- Find opportunities to automate manual processes across departments.
- Own the ERP system from the business side, ensuring strong integrations, reliable data, and efficient operations.
- Lead the responsible rollout of AI tools throughout the company.
- Identify high-impact AI use cases and create the supporting governance and training framework.
- Manage infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud services, endpoints, telephony, and connectivity.
- Oversee cybersecurity, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Ensure dependable end-user support for office, field, and shop-based teams.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of progressive IT experience, including 3 or more years in a leadership capacity.
- Practical experience administering Microsoft 365.
- Strong working knowledge of infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business continuity fundamentals.
- Background managing vendors or MSPs and leading small teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the business.
- ERP administration experience is preferred.
- Experience supporting hybrid or remote work environments is preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365, Azure, security, or ITIL are preferred.
- Experience updating legacy environments and introducing AI tools is preferred.
