Job description

Overview

Acuity Insights is revolutionizing higher education admissions by assessing candidates beyond traditional grades, focusing on personal qualities such as empathy, resilience, and ethical judgment. Their key offering, the Casper test, measures these soft skills through real-world situational scenarios. As a Casper Test Rater, you will evaluate applicant responses to support fair admission decisions in New Zealand, working remotely and on a flexible schedule.

Role Responsibilities

  • Complete rigorous, research-based virtual training to become a certified Rater, including learning to evaluate responses impartially and reduce implicit biases.
  • Participate in ongoing development including refresher courses and mandatory annual recertification to maintain rating accuracy and quality.
  • Analyze and score text and video answers submitted by applicants, applying standardized rating guidelines and benchmarking against the test pool.
  • Provide constructive feedback to improve the Casper test experience, platform, and content.

Success Criteria

  • Demonstrate commitment through consistent participation and professionalism during rating sessions.
  • Engage regularly with training and feedback activities to stay updated with best evaluation practices.
  • Maintain clear, timely communication and responsiveness in all work-related interactions.
  • Approach every assessment with empathy and fairness, understanding the impact on applicants’ academic pathways.
  • Exercise self-awareness to identify and mitigate potential biases, ensuring objective evaluations.

Payment and Work Schedule

Payments are processed monthly via Airwallex for completed work, which includes rating activities, training, and occasional research participation. Although work availability varies and is not guaranteed, a quarterly schedule is provided so you can plan your engagement and estimate earnings accordingly.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be a New Zealand citizen residing within the country.
  • Have access to a personal desktop or laptop computer.
  • Not planning to enroll in any programs requiring Casper testing within the next 2–3 years.
  • Exhibit strong written communication skills to effectively convey scoring rationale and address concerns.
  • Possess the key soft skills: communication, self-awareness, professionalism, and empathy.

Application Process

  • Submit a detailed online application assessing basic eligibility.
  • Complete a short version of the Casper test (Mini-Casper) and a reading comprehension test, which assesses relevant skills and qualities.
  • Participate in a 20-minute one-on-one video interview with a Rating Team member for information verification and role clarification.
  • Complete paid, comprehensive online Rater training within five business days, featuring modules on rating principles, quality assurance, and mitigating bias.
  • Achieve certification following successful training and calibration assessments to officially begin rating.

Training Program

The training encompasses eight interactive modules with assessments designed to build competence in unbiased, consistent ratings. Candidates must pass a calibration exercise to confirm alignment with benchmark standards before certification.
