Role Description
We are seeking a Business Development Manager (EU) to spearhead merchant growth and develop enduring partnerships in the European market.
Responsibilities
- Identify and recruit high-potential European merchants to broaden Joom Marketplace’s product assortment, focusing on those who can contribute to gross profit.
- Manage the entire merchant acquisition process, including prioritizing target markets and segments, establishing sourcing channels, and expanding e-commerce networks.
- Engage with prospective merchants to understand their needs, present Joom’s value proposition, and resolve objections effectively.
- Lead contract negotiations, securing beneficial and lasting partnerships.
- Oversee merchant onboarding to first sales, guiding them through listing, commercial conditions, logistics, warehousing, and compliance.
- Gather merchant feedback and communicate actionable insights internally to remove barriers and enhance platform functionality.
- Monitor performance metrics of merchants and categories, implementing data-driven optimization strategies.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in Key Account Management, Business Development, or seller incubation within e-commerce, marketplaces, or retail sectors.
- Deep knowledge of the European e-commerce environment and merchant requirements; existing European merchant contacts are highly advantageous.
- Successful track record in negotiations, stakeholder management, and closing deals.
- Methodical and hands-on in onboarding and driving merchants to measurable milestones like initial sales.
- Strong analytical skills with the capability to interpret data and optimize accordingly.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; additional languages such as German, French, or Polish are beneficial.
- Preferred candidates have backgrounds in fashion or retail niches (e.g., sneakers, apparel) and experience with logistics providers or warehouses such as Cainiao, Vignette, Luchan, especially in context of China-to-Europe trade.
