Self Checkout Attendant

Position Overview

Working as a Self Checkout Attendant at Walmart Canada provides an excellent opportunity to gain and enhance skills within the retail sector. This role involves delivering outstanding customer service to create a positive shopping environment and assisting patrons in efficiently processing their transactions via self-service checkout areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the self-checkout area by ensuring it is free from clutter, unnecessary debris, objects, and spills.
• Guide customers in the proper and efficient use of available self-service checkout options when necessary.
• Actively promote company-sponsored programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives where appropriate.
• Observe customers' activities to identify when assistance or intervention is needed during the checkout process.
• When required to intervene or conduct quality checks, explain politely to customers the necessity of these actions and reassure them that such procedures are routine for maintaining checkout service standards.
• Possess knowledge of procedures associated with Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms and accurately complete the “Failure to Deactivate” reporting logs.
• Notify the Customer Service Manager promptly if the self-service checkout area experiences low cash levels or technical difficulties.
• Ensure Scan & Go devices are returned to their designated places after use.

Additional Information

The starting minimum pay rate for this role is $17.75 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications

• Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
