Role Overview
Become a vital member of our Invercargill team as a Pest Control Service Technician. At Rentokil Initial, our work extends beyond simply eliminating pests — we deliver peace of mind, expert advice, and tailored solutions for both residential and commercial clients across the Southland region. This permanent, full-time position typically runs Monday through Friday, with the possibility of occasional after-hours assignments.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare your work vehicle and supplies each day for scheduled service visits.
- Assess client sites to identify pest problems and propose suitable interventions.
- Implement pest management solutions following best-practice industry standards.
- Educate clients on proactive pest control and hygiene strategies.
- Ensure comprehensive, accurate reporting following every service appointment.
- Foster strong professional relationships with customers through personable and dependable service.
- Proactively identify upselling or value-added opportunities to enhance client service.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Eligibility to work full-time in New Zealand and hold a valid, clean NZ driver’s license.
- Physical capability to work at heights and within confined spaces, with a strong commitment to safety.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Organized, reliable, and able to work without direct supervision.
- Able to use smartphones or reporting apps to complete service logs.
- Willingness to travel and occasionally stay away from home for jobs within the lower South Island.
- Pest control experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
Preferred (Not Essential) Credentials
- New Zealand Certificate in Urban Pest Control Level 3.
- New Zealand Firearms License.
- Understanding of local pest control regulations and best practices.
- Working at Heights and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) certifications.
- Experience with manual transmission vehicles.

- Applicants must pass pre-employment checks, including medical, references, and criminal background screening.
