Role Overview
The Wall Street Journal is seeking a seasoned correspondent to report on the nexus of commerce and politics within the Middle East, focusing on topics ranging from artificial intelligence developments in the UAE to expansive infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia, as well as political dealings involving President Trump’s associates.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively conceive and implement innovative and significant stories covering financial and political dynamics in the Middle East.
- Effectively build and maintain diverse sources within government and industry to deliver insightful and accurate reporting.
- Collaborate with team members, including stringers and fixers, to provide comprehensive coverage of complex, evolving regional issues.
- Contribute to wide-ranging coverage of the region’s political conflicts, attend major events, and respond promptly to breaking news.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of seven years of professional journalism experience.
- Proficiency in a regional language, ideally Arabic, enhancing the ability to source and report authentically.
- Demonstrated capacity to recognize and investigate sophisticated narratives with a high level of autonomy.
- Exceptional skills in sourcing and ethical journalism standards.
- Possess an open mindset and strong ethical principles in reporting.
