About Foundational Industries

Foundational Industries is pioneering a network of AI-driven autonomous factories dedicated to advancing contract manufacturing in the United States. Our mission is to revitalize critical supply chains by enabling domestic production of high-quality products efficiently and competitively. With recent advances in robotics and physical AI, autonomous manufacturing has moved beyond theory into real-world application. We are focused on scaling these innovations during a transformative era for American industrial leadership.

Cultural Fit

  • Individuals who take initiative proactively and bridge gaps independently.
  • Those who apply sound judgment in fast-paced, ambiguous situations, relying on experience over rigid procedures.
  • Communicators who are straightforward, concise, and candid, particularly when stakes are high.
  • People with high personal standards who also elevate the team’s performance.
  • Professionals truly energized by challenging problems in tangible, physical environments.
  • Those who maintain effectiveness amid ambiguity, change, and pressure.
  • Builders who aspire to create unprecedented solutions and leave a lasting impact.

Role Mission

This leadership position owns the entire quality management system critical to Foundational’s ability to build and ship products meeting customer standards across multiple industrial sectors. Success directly affects audit outcomes, customer program wins, and product shipments.

Key Outcomes in 6 to 12 Months

  • Develop and implement a unified Quality Management System (QMS) adaptable to all verticals Foundational operates in. The system should be designed from the outset to accommodate rigorous standards like AS9100, ISO 13485, IATF 16949, and ISO 9001, enabling seamless certification additions without rebuilding.
  • Manage the full certification process starting from ISO 9001 baseline and extending to additional certifications (e.g., AS9100, ISO 13485, IATF 16949, NADCAP) required by customer programs, ensuring first-time audit success.
  • Establish comprehensive supplier quality processes including qualification, first article inspections (FAIs), production part approval process (PPAP) as needed, source inspections, and counterfeit mitigation aligned with AS9100 and AS6171 standards.
  • Institute rigorous quality control practices on the production floor encompassing control plans, FAIs, in-process inspections, nonconformance reporting (NCR), corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), material review board (MRB) protocols, statistical process control (SPC), and continuous feedback loops to reduce defects and quality costs quarterly.
  • Define and integrate a digital QMS framework managing document control, training records, NCR/CAPA, audits, and supplier quality. Collaborate closely with engineering teams to embed traceability and inspection data into software-native platforms, moving beyond traditional paper or file storage methods.

Required Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of multi-standard QMS architecture including ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485/FDA QSR (21 CFR 820), and IATF 16949, with insight into their overlaps and distinctions, and ability to incorporate additional customer or industry-specific standards.
  • Proven audit leadership experience across registrar, customer, and regulatory audits, including guiding organizations through successful first-time certifications.
  • Strong quality engineering skills with mastery of APQP/PPAP, FMEA, control plans, measurement system analysis (MSA), SPC, 8D problem solving, root cause analysis, and effective CAPA implementation.
  • Expertise in electronics and precision manufacturing quality standards such as IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, FAIs (AS9102), source inspection, dimensional metrology, and special process accreditations like NADCAP.
  • Proficiency in defining and managing digital QMS systems and data architectures including eQMS platforms, traceability systems, and inspection record management.

Core Competencies

  • Accountability in ownership of outcomes and proactive issue resolution.
  • Bias toward action, shipping work iteratively and embracing challenges.
  • Clear and concise communication especially under critical conditions.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt in unfamiliar environments.
  • Resilience when facing complexities, ambiguity, or rapid changes.
  • Commitment to setting and maintaining high standards, leading by example.
  • Experience establishing quality systems from scratch — including documentation, processes, certifications, and building teams — with capability to manage independently before delegating.
