Head of Camera & Lighting - Al Jazeera

Overview

Located in Doha, Qatar, this role as Head of Camera & Lighting at Al Jazeera involves leading the filming and lighting processes across all on-air news, program galleries, outside broadcasts, and special events.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all cameras and control systems in optimal working condition in collaboration with Engineering to uphold superior technical performance.
• Supervise staff, provide training, manage leave and sickness coverage, and advise management on new equipment acquisition to ensure operational excellence and industry relevance.
• Coordinate rostering of camera operators and manage day-to-day operations with supervisors and team leaders of the Camera/Lighting section.
• Ensure staff adherence to operational procedures and maintain high standards through effective training.
• Operate cameras, including jibs and cranes, in both studio/newsroom and external broadcast locations.
• Manage lighting control panels, maintain lighting designs, and develop lighting solutions for new studio productions.
• Operate robotic camera systems and oversee concurrent camera control systems.
• Collaborate closely with directors on studio productions to meet creative and technical requirements.
