Head of Supply Chain Management at Telecel Ghana

Overview

The Head of Supply Chain Management (SCM) at Telecel Ghana is a critical strategic leadership role responsible for risk management, financial strength, and operational continuity. This role involves formulating and executing comprehensive SCM strategies focused on spend optimization, category management, vendor performance, and contract governance to ensure sustainable value generation.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement category management methodologies and tools like Design to Cost and Supply Chain Cost Modelling to identify savings and maximize efficiencies across expenditure categories.
• Act as the principal expert on procurement, supply chain logistics, and contract management, advising senior management and the Board on strategic and risk issues.
• Lead logistics operations including warehousing, customs clearance, transportation, inventory management, and asset disposal while integrating financial oversight for asset preservation and enhancement.
• Oversee the entire contract lifecycle, ensuring accurate drafting, negotiation, compliance, and alignment with legal and regulatory standards.
• Drive operational targets including cost savings, purchase request and order processing efficiency, and supplier relationship management.
• Develop and maintain a robust supply market risk framework using regular spend analyses for risk minimization and supplier diversification.
• Ensure GDPR and other regulatory compliance through effective master data governance.
• Identify and develop high-potential team members, establishing clear advancement pathways to build future leadership capabilities within the SCM function.
• Promote a performance-driven culture aligned with Telecel’s values, ethics, and operational integrity commitments.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management with minimum 10 years’ experience, or a Commercial/Engineering degree with at least 15 years including 5 years in senior procurement/SCM roles.
• Professional certifications such as MCIPS with a minimum of 5 years post-certification experience in procurement roles.
• Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Procurement & Supply Chain, Project Management, Telecoms, or Materials Engineering is preferred.
• Experience within telecommunications or technology sectors is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Oracle ERP or similar financial and supply chain management platforms.
• Additional certifications including ACCA, CIMA, ICA, or CPA are beneficial.
• Strong commercial insight with aptitude for translating complex data into strategic recommendations.
• Established history of delivering cost reductions, ensuring contract compliance, managing risks, and nurturing talent.
