Role Overview

This on-site position based in Northwest England involves performing core groundworker tasks such as preparing sites, excavating, trench digging, and fitting drainage and utility ducts. The role supports foundation and substructure construction, roads and sewer works, kerbing, paving, and external landscaping activities. Responsibilities include safe operation of tools and machinery, adherence to site plans and health and safety practices, maintaining cleanliness of the work area, and cooperating with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure project standards and schedules are met efficiently.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Possession of a valid CSCS or equivalent card to legally work on construction sites.
• Proven experience in groundworks operations such as excavation, foundation setting, drainage system installation, and trenching.
• Hands-on skills in landscaping and exterior project work, including kerbing, paving, and basic hard landscaping tasks.
• Knowledge and practice of safe working methods around trees and vegetation involving site clearance and protection.
• Previous civil engineering or construction experience, ideally linked to roads, sewers, or similar infrastructure projects.
• A strong focus on health and safety standards and safe use of plant and machinery.
• The ability to interpret site drawings and instructions precisely, with an emphasis on detail and quality.
• Dependability, punctuality, and the capability to function effectively as a member of the site team, regardless of weather or ground conditions.
• Possession of a valid UK driving license.
