Job Summary
The GPS Technician is responsible for installing and repairing GPS Fleet Tracking Units and telematics equipment in various customer vehicles, ensuring proper functionality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee installation, removal, and transfer of GPS units, coordinating closely with customer support to guarantee device performance.
- Ensure that each vehicle is returned in the exact condition as received after service.
- Strictly adhere to customer support schedules and be punctual for all customer visits.
- Use only authorized tools as specified by the technical supervisor and maintain company assets in good working order.
- Report any damage or loss of tools or assets immediately to the technical supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper appearance of the SamTech uniform at all times.
- Prepare detailed reports after each customer interaction and submit them on the same day via email to the customer support agent.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related problems efficiently.
- Conduct hardware tests on new equipment and promptly report findings to the technical supervisor.
- Provide training to customer technicians as needed.
- Inform the operations team immediately upon completion of assigned tasks.
- Communicate with customers 30 minutes before visits to confirm vehicle availability and notify them if delays are likely.
- Perform additional job-related duties as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient in installing all sensors including Fuel, Temperature, Door, and Camera sensors.
- Strong foundational knowledge of GPS device installation and related procedures.
- Possession of a valid UAE driver's license is mandatory.
- Experience or understanding of automotive electrical systems or vehicle electrification is an advantage.
- Basic verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service.
- Ability to complete assignments within deadlines and work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Maintain professionalism, patience, and confidence in customer interactions.
Education and Experience
- Diploma in Electronics or an equivalent qualification is required.
- Minimum of two years’ experience installing GPS and related accessories.
