About AlleyCorp
Based in New York, AlleyCorp is a venture capital firm and family office established by entrepreneur Kevin Ryan. The firm incubates transformative companies such as MongoDB and Business Insider and invests across pre-seed to Series A rounds.
Role Overview
We are searching for a strategic and analytical Controller / Senior Fund Accountant to join our finance team as a key contributor. This position involves managing accounting processes, enhancing efficiency, and safeguarding the financial health of both our family office and venture capital funds.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting activities for family office funds, including accurate recording of investments and tax basis maintenance.
- Prepare financial statements detailing fund performance and profit share distributions.
- Manage relationship and coordination with outsourced fund administrators responsible for VC fund financials and performance reporting.
- Review monthly financial books and records prepared by external accounting firms for operating companies.
- Develop financial reports, presentations, and analyses for executives and investors, such as investment performance and portfolio company evaluations.
- Handle investor transactions including subscriptions, capital calls, distributions, and shareholder matters related to third-party investments.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance infrastructure and workflow systems.
- Design and implement scalable accounting systems and workflows to support family office fund operations efficiently.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Preference for CPA certification.
- More than 7 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, focusing on fund accounting within investment management.
- Proven success in managing outsourced relationships with fund administrators and tax firms.
- Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
- Strong leadership with the ability to work autonomously and handle complex tasks.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication abilities with a meticulous attention to detail.
- A proactive, cooperative, and analytical approach to work.
