About the Role
Invercargill City Council invites an enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic and future-focused team within Museum and Heritage Services. This role focuses on leading the Front of House team at Te Unua Museum of Southland, ensuring seamless visitor-facing service operations including retail, reception, events, and amenities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Front of House staff and volunteers to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Recruit, train, create rosters for, and supervise both permanent and casual Front of House personnel and volunteers.
- Manage daily Front of House functions such as ticketing, retail sales, and regulating visitor flow.
- Serve as the primary contact for resolving visitor and staff issues.
- Work collaboratively with Experience and Commercial and Partnerships teams to enhance museum programming and visitor service integration.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in relevant areas such as business management, team leadership, or organisational management.
- At least five years of front-of-house service experience, preferably within museums, art galleries, or heritage organizations.
- Strong team collaboration abilities, fostering positive attitudes within and between teams.
- Proficient with point of sale, booking, and rostering software systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of bicultural and multicultural community aspects and a firm commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles; proven experience working effectively with mana whenua in a museum context.
Work Conditions
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours weekly, including potential weekend and public holiday shifts when the museum is open.
