Overview
The Data Governance Officer position within IFF's Taste business unit offers an exciting opportunity to influence a data-driven culture at a global leader in flavors, fragrances, and biosciences. You will play a critical role in building and strengthening the organization's data governance framework by collaborating with various teams to enhance data quality, compliance, and usability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and enforce data quality controls to ensure high data standards, investigate data anomalies, and coordinate remediation efforts promptly.
- Maintain and continually improve data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures through active governance council participation and process documentation.
- Collaborate with Data Owners and Stewards to establish and uphold data standards, business rules, critical data elements, and accountability structures.
- Align governance priorities and data needs with both business and technical teams to ensure unified delivery of governance goals.
- Conduct data quality monitoring using audits, metadata verification, data profiling, and stewardship, alongside upkeep of data catalogs and business glossaries.
- Develop and report on key performance indicators related to Data Governance and Data Quality for insights and continuous enhancement.
- Analyze business processes and data flows to pinpoint governance improvement opportunities and address business requirements.
- Lead training sessions and awareness programs that embed governance best practices and nurture a data-informed organizational culture.
- Partner with Digital Technology Solutions teams to embed governance processes into the wider data ecosystem and ensure accurate governance documentation and reporting.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Information Systems, Data Management, Business Reporting, Computer Science, Information Governance, or related disciplines.
- At least two years' experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Business Intelligence, Analytics, or Master Data Management-related areas.
- Strong understanding of concepts in Data Governance, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Data Stewardship, Master Data Management, and Data Lifecycle Management; familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK is a plus.
- Proficient problem-solving skills to interpret data quality metrics and articulate findings effectively.
- Excellent organizational capabilities to juggle multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Effective collaboration with stakeholders across both technical and business areas.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal, including experience facilitating discussions and delivering training.
- Knowledge on the relationship between master and transactional data and their impact on business processes and outcomes.
- Fluency in English for successful communication and collaboration.
Additional Advantages
- Experience with data governance platforms such as Snowflake, Atlan, Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or similar.
- Exposure to Data Security, Privacy, data classification, access management, or related fields.
- Familiarity with enterprise platforms like SAP, Salesforce, Power BI, or equivalent business systems.
