About the Role
Mercor, a leading firm connecting top technical and creative professionals with premier AI research institutions, headquartered in San Francisco and backed by prominent investors, is seeking a Certified CPT Medical Coder on a contract basis. This position is fully remote within the United States and offers competitive hourly compensation between $45 and $65. The minimum commitment duration is 2 weeks.
Key Responsibilities
- Precisely assign CPT and ICD-10 codes to clinical documents and medical records.
- Ensure all coding complies with payer requirements and regulatory standards.
- Review clinical documentation thoroughly to verify coding completeness and accuracy.
- Work collaboratively with internal quality and audit teams to resolve any differences or errors in coding.
- Maintain consistent productivity while delivering high-quality results independently.
Qualifications
- Possession of an active Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and/or Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) certification recognized by AAPC or equivalent organizations.
- Established work experience specializing in CPT coding and robust knowledge of ICD-10 codes.
- Current medical coding certification with active practice status is required.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) coding is advantageous.
- Understanding of MEAT documentation principles: Monitor, Evaluate, Assess, Treat.
- Exposure to risk adjustment coding practices is a plus.
