Role Description
The Assistant Surveyor will support field survey operations by taking measurements, recording data, and preparing notes for review. The position involves assisting in setting out and verifying construction layout points as guided by the survey lead. Key duties include aiding with control point management, performing basic equipment inspections, and facilitating coordination with site teams. The role also requires compiling measurements and drawing inputs, ensuring all documentation is thorough, traceable, and compliant with project protocols. The incumbent will perform standard calculations and data management tasks relevant to survey activities and report any discrepancies or risks to supervisors. All tasks must adhere to site safety standards and maintain survey quality.
Requirements
- Diploma in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of surveying techniques such as leveling, distance and angle measurement, and basic support for setting out.
- Experience in survey data collection methods and elementary data processing and plotting.
- High attention to detail with the ability to accurately log field data and work outdoors on active construction sites.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with site personnel and following directions from survey leadership.
- Capability to operate and care for surveying instruments under guidance, including routine calibration and equipment checks.
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance, with an understanding of measurement accuracy and quality control principles.
