Our flagship product, Read with Ello, supports tens of thousands of children weekly in developing reading skills by listening, responding, and personalizing stories. We are expanding to create a comprehensive AI teacher that extends beyond reading to subjects like math and language learning, combining language, speech, and memory to deliver interactive educational experiences globally.

Position Overview

We are looking for a full-time AI Learning Designer specializing in math who will craft the instructional vision and design compelling math learning activities powered by AI. This role blends expertise in elementary math education with AI technology to guide our AI tutor in teaching math similarly to an outstanding human educator. Close collaboration with engineers is essential to bring these experiences to life.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop math lessons powered by AI that merge effective pedagogy with engaging learner interaction.
Assess AI tutor outputs to confirm they are developmentally appropriate and instructionally sound.
Shape AI prompts to ensure the tutor behaves like an expert math educator.
Work closely with engineering and AI research teams to iteratively enhance AI-driven instruction through continual testing and evaluation.

Qualifications

Deep knowledge of math education, curriculum design, or learning science focused on early or elementary math.
Strong technical background—experience in computer science, AI, educational technology, or building tech-enabled learning tools.
Regular use of generative AI tools and fluency in AI-enhanced workflows.
Capability to communicate technical and instructional ideas effectively with engineers and product teams.
Ability to work independently under ambiguous conditions and deliver high-quality outputs quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience or education in computer science, software engineering, data science, or relevant technical disciplines.
Prior work designing AI-assisted educational experiences or building edtech products.
Familiarity with research-backed math teaching methods, such as number sense development and visual thinking strategies.
Portfolio showcasing curriculum or product development work.
