Role overview
Higgins is seeking a permanent full-time STMS to join its Traffic Management Crew in the Manawatū region. This position involves leading a small team while carrying out temporary traffic management work that helps protect the public, site staff, and the flow of traffic.
Work pattern
The role offers at least 40 hours each week, Monday to Friday, within a working window of 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Additional hours or extra days may be required when needed, and the position may involve on-call and night work.
Key duties
- Plan, modify, and put traffic management arrangements into action.
- Make sure all safety controls and temporary traffic management plans are followed.
- Assign tasks and coordinate the work of crew members.
- Keep daily records up to date and log any incidents.
- Train and support staff as needed.
- Manage traffic safely and look after traffic management equipment.
What is needed
Applicants should bring a strong safety focus for themselves, their team, and the public. A current STMS warrant for Cat A / Cat B is required, along with solid experience in the traffic industry. Prior crew leadership experience is preferred. A full Class 1 licence is essential, while a Class 2 licence would be an advantage. Because the work is physically demanding, a high level of fitness is important.
