Role Overview

This full-time on-site position requires researching, investigating, and reporting on local news, community happenings, and issues of public importance. The journalist will create clear and accurate stories suitable for both print and online publication. Key tasks include interviewing, fact-checking, writing news articles, and working alongside editors and colleagues to meet deadlines. The role also involves attending community events, keeping up-to-date with local developments, and tailoring content to suit diverse audiences and formats.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Excellent journalistic writing skills with the ability to deliver clear, concise, and accurate stories.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Journalism, Communications, Media, or related disciplines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills enabling effective interviews and source rapport.
• Sound editorial judgment, understanding of media law, journalistic ethics, and keen attention to detail.
• Capacity to work on-site, juggle several assignments simultaneously, and adhere to strict deadlines.
• Familiarity with digital publishing tools, social media channels, and basic multimedia production is advantageous.
• An interest in or knowledge of the Scenic Rim region and its community issues is highly desirable.
• Applicants must have or be willing to obtain a Blue Card (Working with Children clearance).
