Role overview
A manufacturing employer in Niagara Falls is hiring Distribution Operators to support warehouse and plant logistics at its local facility. The role focuses on unloading activities for truck and rail car operations, along with day-to-day shipping and receiving tasks across the plant.
Education
The minimum academic requirement is a two-year college or university credential. A background in STEM — science, technology, engineering, or math — is preferred and treated as essential for this position.
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will carry out a range of warehouse and distribution tasks, including unloading materials from trucks and rail cars and handling shipping and receiving work as needed throughout the facility.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a plant or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- You should be able to handle the physical demands of the job, including outdoor work.
- Experience in a manufacturing setting with a strong focus on safety procedures is an advantage.
- You need knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS, plus a valid driver’s licence.
- Strong English reading, writing, and speaking skills are required, along with solid interpersonal, verbal, and written communication ability.
- You must be comfortable working independently as well as collaborating with a team.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications is required.
- The role requires the ability to wear personal protective equipment, including a respirator, and respond appropriately to visual and audible alarms.
- Forklift or skid steer experience is considered an asset.
- The site is not on a bus route, so dependable transportation is necessary.
- The position is a full-time ongoing contract with a chance of becoming permanent full-time.
- Standard working time is 12-hour shifts, averaging 80 hours every two weeks.
- Overtime pay is available.
- Forklift licence is required.
Additional details
Job type: full-time, fixed-term contract.
Pay: base rate of $25.00 per hour, plus shift premium.
Location note: the workplace is not accessible by public transit, so reliable transportation is a must.
Required education: bachelor’s degree or college diploma.
Required experience: 2 years in warehouse work, 2 years in manufacturing, and 2 years using Microsoft Office.
Certification required: forklift licence.
