About the Role

Join Knowsley Youth Justice Service (YJS), an innovative multi-agency team committed to supporting children and families involved in the criminal justice system. Based at Nutgrove Villa, Westmorland Road, Huyton, the Youth Justice Officer role offers the chance to make a positive impact through strength-based interventions and collaborative work with a skilled team including social workers, education specialists, health professionals, and law enforcement.

Key Duties

  • Support case managers and specialist staff in developing and implementing tailored interventions for children and families.
  • Deliver individual and group work focused on preventing offending and reducing reoffending among youth.
  • Engage children and families, including those who are challenging, using creative and innovative approaches.
  • Assist in restorative justice processes and facilitate community reparation projects to foster positive community outcomes.
  • Contribute to safeguarding efforts and ensure compliance with relevant criminal justice and child protection legislation.
  • Participate in regular supervision and contribute to continuous professional development activities.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of one year’s experience working with children and families within criminal justice, child services, or related sectors.
  • Strong capability to engage with complex families, understanding issues such as exploitation, trauma, and adverse childhood experiences.
  • Ability to design and apply creative and practical intervention strategies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding practices and relevant legislation.

Work Conditions and Benefits

  • Permanent full-time position, 36 hours per week.
